As of 1 February 2008, UniversalStudios-beijing has officially changed its name to Boers-Li Gallery. The old name will be used alongside the new one until June 2008.
On 14 January 2008, Liu Wei received the prestigious 2007 Chinese Contemporary Art Award. The Chinese Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition, featuring the work of Liu Wei and the recipients of the two other categories of the prize, Ai Weiwei and Tseng Yu-Chin, will travel between Beijing and Shanghai from September to December 2008. Additionally, Liu Wei has been invited to exhibit a special solo project at Arco08, held from the 14th to the 17th of February 2008 in Madrid, Spain.
We will also be participating in Art 39 Basel from the 4th to the 8th of June 2008 in Switzerland. Young artists Song Kun and Qiu Xiaofei, who have consistently attracted the attention of the art world both internationally and domestically, will represent our gallery in the Art Premier section of the fair. In addition, we will be participating in the China International Gallery Exposition in Beijing on 25 April, showing new work by several young Chinese artists.
After the New Year holiday, Boers-Li Gallery will present two new exhibitions: the first, opening on 8 March, is ¡°Qiu Xiaofei: House of Recollected Fragments¡±; the second, opening in April, is Zhang Peili's solo exhibition. In 2008, several new artists will be joining the Boers-Li Gallery community, including Gong Jian, Liang Yuanwei, and Zhang Peili. Their work will be displayed in the gallery during the coming year.
