Xue Feng is best known for his dark atmospheric canvases, where dense layers of brushstrokes exude a sense of loss. His new works see a clear departure from ‘night to day’, with a riot of colourful strokes depicting the joy and vibrancy of spring.
Xue’s ‘Drawing Games’ are evident in their technique of using brushwork in order to embody the movement of branches and leaves. Through this process, the artist is constantly experimenting new possibilities to break through an old style, to expand the same motif indefinitely, or to choose a section of the works to transform them into something new.
